Focal Point

Capital Culture gallery and The Drugstore Gallery are collaborating to present a photographic exhibition featuring the work of Barry Cawston and James Sparshatt entitled Focal Point.

Focal Point

The exhibition presents the different personal expressions of two fine art photographers, James Sparshatt and Barry Cawston.  Sparshatt’s black and white images range from rain storms sweeping across the Peruvian altiplano to dancers rehearsing at a Cuban music festival.  The sumptuous palladium platinum prints enhance the dynamism and emotion of his imagery giving the work subtle nuances unachievable with other printing techniques.  Cawston carries his large format camera from favelas in Brazil to villages in southern France to reveal the beauty in our everyday surroundings.  His intelligent eye and mastery of light produces colour photography of cinematic quality.

The exhibition will be held at
Eames Fine Art Gallery
58 Bermondsey Street
London SE1 3UD

Opening Times
Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 6pm
Sunday 12pm – 5pm

Grand Designs Live

GDL NEC 2014 composite digital

Last year over 50,000 visitors headed to the NEC in Birmingham in search of ideas for their dream home…  Based on the Channel 4 TV series, and presented by design guru Kevin McCloud, Grand Designs Live will have over 500 exhibitors offering stylish answers to those in search of inspiration.  We have combined forces with the Drugstore Gallery to suggest four possibilities…

  • a landscape painting commission by Rachael Dalzell
  • a Barry Cawston photograph – the world energised by his use of colour and composition
  • a Benjamin Buckley screen print.  Drawn by hand using tablet and pen on a computer his work draws inspiration from both the occidental and oriental worlds to comment on the all-consuming nature of globalisation
  • a James Sparshatt portrait of Cuban “revolutionaries” printed on the gritty and stark surface of brushed aluminium

The event runs from Thursday 9th October – Sunday 12th October
